Season 8
The eighth season of ‘Big Brother’ was entitled ‘Big Brother’ 8. It was premiered on July 5, 2007 and ran till September 18, 2007. Julie Chen, the one who hosted the previous 7 seasons, returned once again as the host of the season. It aired three times a week: Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. One of the major twists this season was named ‘Biggest Nemesis’. There were three sets of enemies- Joe/Dustin, Daniele/ Dick and Carol/Jessica. Let’s see the major alliances this year:
Mrs. Robinson Alliance formed by Kail, Nick, Mike, and Zach
The Little Julie Chens Alliance formed by Dick, Daniele, Jessica and Eric.
The Late Night Crew was formed by Dick, Daniele, Eric, Dustin, Amber, Jameka and Jessica.
‘Big Brother’ house was also altered, however just little changes were made. The House had an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ theme and there was a small bedroom and an oversized bedroom. In the small room, five beds, only five feet long, were placed and in the big room, shoulder-height beds were laid. The backyard of the house contained animal shaped topiaries and the lavish blue bathroom had a lion shaped water spout. The ultimate goal of each participant was to win a top prize of $500, 000 or a runner up prize of $50,000. In addition to these two grand prizes, various other prizes were also awarded during this season. For example, in the Second Power of Veto competition, Dick won a plasma TV; Dustin also won $5,000 along with a trip to Barbados; Daniele and Amber won a secret trip; Eric won the prize of three minute phone call and gave it to Jessica. All ‘Big Brother’ viewers were given two options to become more involved with the game, namely CBS’ ‘America’s Player’ and Canadian broadcaster Global TV’s ‘Big Brother Interactive’. In this season, Dick Donato won the competition and became ‘Big Brother’ 8.
