About
‘Big Brother’, a long running reality TV show on CBS, has become an annual entertainer for viewers. Every summer, viewers are introduced to new guests, new challenges and also to new evictions. Series has a very unique format and as per the rules of ‘Big Brother’- a group of contestants, also known as houseguests, enter into a house in Los Angeles. They all are without any connection to the outside world and are monitored by cameras 24/7, as they compete in different challenges with a hope to win a grand prize of $ 500, 000. No participant is allowed to leave the house and its’ backyard also. Even, they can’t have any newspaper, magazine, radio, computer, mobile, ipod and any thing like that. Only, HOH (Head of Household) is given a CD player to listen the CDs.
Every week all guests compete to win the title of HOH and also the perks associated with it, including own private bedroom, a private bathroom, a refrigerator, a bed and all stuff sent to him/her by their family and friends. It’s the right of the current HOH to select 2 houseguests to be put up on the block to be voted to be evicted, that week. Some weeks later, a Power of Veto competition is held where the six players (the HOH, the nominees, and three guests) try to win the Golden Power of Veto. In the weekly live eviction, all houseguests vote to evict someone from the house for their good. After the final results, the evicted houseguest leaves the house. When just two houseguests remain in the house, the 7 sequestered contestants are asked, to choose the one, they wish to win the prize of $ 500, 000.
‘Big Brother’ was premiered on July 5, 2000 and it recently finished airing season 10. Each season begins with approximately 15 and 20 guests and each lasts for around 3 months.
